Biography

Lorenzo Lamas is a 58-year-old American actor cum flight instructor. He was born in 1958 in Santa Monica, California into the family of Fernando Lamas, an Argentinean movie star who later moved to the US to become an actor in Hollywood and Arlene Dahl, an American actress of Norwegian descent. He is also the stepson of late Actress and professional swimmer, Esther Williams A.K.A America’s Mermaid. Lorenzo was brought up in the Pacific Palisades, California and relocated to New York City in the early 70s at the age of 13. He graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey after attending private school. He later moved back to California and with encouragement from his father, he enlisted in Tony Barr’s Film Actors Workshop. He began his career with a small role in a television show in 1976. Later in 1979, he began to study Karate and Taekwondo, earning black belts. After enrolling and studying acting in Tony Barr’s Film Actors Workshop, he achieved his primordial acting role in 1976. He played a supporting role in the 1978 film Grease. He has starred in over fifty films and also had guest-starring parts in movies such as Secrets of Midland Heights, Switch, Fantasy Island, Sword of Justice, Hotel and The Love Boat. However, having starred in five television series, He is most known for his roles on television. While working as a TV and Film actor in the 80’s and 90’s, he also sustained a racing career. In 2009 he partnered with Ralph Randolph of Knockout Motorcycles to form a new motorcycle company named Lorenzo Lamas Cycles. His acting mentor and role model was the late Jane Wyman, who was his childhood family friend and heroine. His Father was Jane Wyman’s friend when he (Lorenzo) was just a baby and about 20 years later, he co-starred with her on the mega TV series Falcon Crest as her grandson. For nearly 50 years, each January of every year he shared the same month (in birthdays) with her, until her death in 2007.

Lorenzo has 6 children and he has been married 5 times. His first marriage was to Victoria Hilbert from 1981 to 1982 after which he married his publicist, Michele Cathy Smith in 1983. They both have two kids: son Alvaro Joshua and daughter, Shane. He and Smith divorced in 1985. In 1989, He married Kathleen Kinmont, His Renegade co-star and they split in 1993. Lamas married Playboy’s May 1993 Playmate, Shauna Sand as his fourth wife in 1996 and the pair have three daughters: Alexander Lynne, Victoria and Isabella Lorenzo. The couple got divorced in 2002. While his divorce from Shauna Sand was still pending, Lamas got engaged to December 1992 Playmate of the month, Barbara Moore, albeit for a short period. The wedding was called off following a disagreement over a raucous party that Ms Moore and her friends threw. In 2011, Lamas married his fifth wife, Shawna Craig. He informed reporters that he intended to change his name to Lorenzo Lamas-Craig because his ex-wife, Shauna, retained the last name ‘Lamas’ and is legally named ‘Shauna Lamas’ and Shawna, Lamas’s fifth wife whose first name is homonymous with that of Shauna, his ex-wife, did not want to have a similar sounding name.

Lamas co-auditioned for and won the role of Lance Cumson, in 1980, for the pilot of a new Tv series, titled The Vintage Years, which was subsequently remade and became the hit primetime drama series, Falcon Crest. Lamas was the only actor or actress to appear in all the 227 episodes of the series and during that period, he was nominated for two Soap Opera digest Awards and a Golden Globe Award. He was also nominated for Worst Actor at the Golden Raspberry awards for his role in the movie, Body Rock. During and after Crest, he and Ana Alicia who was his wife in the series, have become and retained their bosom friendship. In the syndicated series, Renegade in 1992, Lamas played the role of a falsely accused cop, Reno Raines. The series was viewed in over 100 countries and during its terminal season, it moved from first-run syndication to the USA Network. The show was concluded in 1997 after airing for 5 seasons. Some of his more recent movies and TV shows include The Bold and the Beautiful in which he played the role of Hector Ramirez from February 2004 until February 2007. He was featured as Alan Baxter in the Asylum's Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus as, in 2009. In 2015, Lamas was a member of the cast of the reality Celebrity Apprentice, a reality TV series. His starring roles in Falcon Crest and Renegade remain the works for which he is best known by the public till today. His autobiography Renegade at Heart was published In December 2014. He is a classic rock music enthusiast and also a modest fan of tattoos. On his upper back/shoulder, he has a tattoo of a woman riding a unicorn which he says is a tribute to two of his father’s most preferred things: Women and Horses. He recently had the tattoo concealed with a conquistador on a blue horse and is an improved representation of his tribute to his father. He is currently working as a helicopter tour pilot, an interest he developed when his children were young and living in Arizona with their mother, a flight away from him. In order to see them regularly, he took flying lessons, got his pilot's license and regularly flew to pick them up.
